The Accordion Connection

Simone says there's a popular indie rock band called the "Accordion Connection, you know, that one with all the guys on stage at once, and one of them has a drum? You know who I mean". Anyway, this is an unrelated blog of bitchin' YouTube videos.

You Do Fosse Fosse Fosse, But You Keep It All Inside

So Simone said to me, "Gaby, you need to write a post for our blog. You never write for the blog!" and she kept saying that for a few months, so I went to the blog tonight to prove her wrong, and then it turned out that I hadn't written anything since like June. Oops! So anyway, here I am (rocking me like a hurricane is optional).

So, let's get down to business: Beyonce's "Single Ladies" is way retarded and regressive and stuff (like all her dating songs! See not just the one about if she was a boy, but also the one about how she was crazy in love, and also the one she did with Missy about how she doesn't need to leave the house anymore because she's got a man. For serious! Beyonce Giselle Knowles! Go to your room!), but then also addictive and awesome, in no small part because of the video:

I'm sure that video will be gone within hours of my posting this, but try to imagine anyway. So ANYWAY, the video is full of incredible dancing (and a tranny! it's a surprise, like an easter egg for dedicated viewers). "How cool and innovative!" I thought. Simone told me she loved the retro feeling.

Well, it turns out there is a good reason for this retro feeling! 'Yonce was apparently inspired by the 1969 Bob Fosse-choreographed dance routine "Mexican Breakfast", staring the eternally sassy Gwen "Legs" Verdon:

And duh, where have I seen that all before?:

That song is so annoying that I never made it all the way through the video. But apparently Beyonce did! I didn't do any investigative research here--Beyonce said all this on the fine BET program "106 & Park"--but I thought it might increase/ decrease everyone's enjoyment, whichever one it takes to get everyone to focus on Beyonce's dangerous conservative agenda for America. You're welcome, America!

Shoot Them in the Brains, If You Want to Live

I can't believe I didn't know about this before Halloween. So, Happy Late Halloween, guys!

That was Lesley and the Ly's doing "Zombie Killer." I'm not, like, a big fan of Lesley and the Ly's, but that song had ELVIRA in it, yo! MISTRESS OF THE DARK.

ALSO, did you know Elvira had a song? Yeah. Apparently it was in her movie, "Elvira: Mistress of the Dark." It involves chippendale's dancers dressed like devils and Elvira riding on the hood of a car and rapping. I guess it WAS the 80's, everyone was doing terrible rapping in the middle of their campfests. Also, she is not just a mistress of the dark, but of boob tassles. Please watch:

If you're like me, though, you mostly remember Elvira from commercials. I couldn't remember what kind of commercials until I stumbled upon this one for coors light.

Here's another one:

I had completely forgotten that Coors is the official beer of Halloween. Thanks, Elvira!
